In over 30+ years, Koryo Do Martial Arts has only ever promoted 18 students to 1st Degree Blackbelt! That’s because at our school, we care about the quality and safety of our students over the quantity of Blackbelts that our school produces. Which is why Koryo Do will never be known as a “McDojo” or a “Blackbelt Factory”. Our students work hard at their skills and even harder to claim the title of Blackbelt. Keep scrolling to see the select few who beat all the odds and meet your future instructors!

Grand Master Jose I. Delgado
10th Dan, Tae Kwon Do
Founder & Owner of Koryo Do Martial Arts Studio

Grandmaster Jose I. Delgado is not merely a martial artist; he is a living legend whose life is a testament to dedication, mastery, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. His journey in the martial arts began in the 1960s, where he first trained in Judo and Shorin Ryu, laying the foundation for a career that would eventually see him rise to the highest echelons of martial arts.

In 1974, he joined the International Tae Kwon Do Federation in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where his natural talent and commitment quickly set him apart. By 1978, he had achieved the rare privilege of teaching independently, a significant milestone that marked the beginning of his lifelong mission to share the art of Tae Kwon Do with others.

One of the rarest and most significant achievements in martial arts is earning a 10th-degree black belt—a rank so uncommon that only about 20–30 individuals in the world hold it in karate, and even fewer in disciplines like judo. Grandmaster Delgado reached this pinnacle, placing him among the elite few who have dedicated their lives to achieving the impossible.

But Grandmaster Delgado’s contributions extend far beyond personal accolades. He is the visionary behind Koryo Do, a martial arts style that skillfully blends traditional Tae Kwon Do with modern self-defense techniques. This innovative approach has not only empowered countless students but also enriched the broader martial arts community.
