It is the end of the year and many people look at the future in the hopes of changing their lives.
As part of this process the make promises to themselves which are better known as New Year’s Resolutions.
Regretfully for most these resolution do not out last the year if they get in place at all. Time magazine wrote about the top ten broken New Year’s resolutions and amazing enough among those ten where:
- Lose weight and get fit
- Learn something new
- Be less stressed
- Quit smoking
Interesting to notice that 4 out of 10 may be achieved by joining by joining a Gym, enrolling in Zumba classes or learning martial arts.
I personally have tried all of these and all I can say is that I have been in the martial arts world for over 37 years. I do not smoke, I’m fairly fit for my age, I’m still learning something new almost every day, and going to the martial arts school in the afternoon does wonder to my stress levels.
Another point to consider is the camaraderie and friendship you will find at a martial art studio is nothing short of a life changing experience.
Of course there is also the point of peer pressure as your new friends will help you keep up with your resolutions and assist you in your new adventure.
Therefore, if you are going to make a resolution this year, stack the odds in your favor and join a martial arts school/studio and give yourself a chance towards a better life.
